The owners of The Safe House were looking to create an unique experience, and they partnered with Fearing’s for their record of making audio, visual, and security installations the best experience possible for their clients. A Safe House in Chicago Provides More Than Shelter The cooperative effort between the nonprofit IMAN, an impact investor and Chicago CRED fills a big gap, but more space is needed. It’s one part being early adopters of new technologies, one part having more than two decades of service to businesses large and small, and one part providing uncompromisable customer experience. Other companies have set up audio, visual, and security systems, but Fearing’s embraced the challenge of doing it all, in an agile way, in a smaller space, and cost-effectively. Surprises, colors, blasts of air, lighting, changing visuals and sounds all combine to pull the guest into a world where their identity can change for a bit– where they can play and explore. The completed project has drawn excitement from would be patrons, and much justified attention from the news media. ![]() The SafeHouse is not just a restaurant or nightclub, but an enveloping experience for all the senses. For this, Fearing’s created a system of remote management. The complexity of many intertwined systems increased the possibility of human error. Systems needed the ability to run their programs, while staff members needed the ability to interrupt and reroute or change those programs at the touch of a button. Our unique restaurant has spy gadgets, tasty food, and large, shareable cocktails. 9/2/2023 0 Comments Downton abbey memesIn conversation with Isobel in season 4, episode 8, Violet asks her to be there too. However, seeing as no one else was available to meet with him and since it was prearranged, Violet had to volunteer her hospitality. Isobel Is The Only Option “Mmm, Yes, But You’re Better Than Nothing.”įamily friend to the Crawleys, Lord Merton was due to pay a visit. With a distaste to the statement, Violet quickly jumps on the defense and takes Isobel’s words to the extreme. Frustrated by Violet’s accusation, Isobel insinuates that she is far too materialistic, because of her concern towards the whereabouts of her missing possessions. In season 4, episode 6, after Violet had been swayed into letting John Pegg work at her house, she thinks he has stolen from her and informs Isobel. Mysterious Missing Items “I Wonder You Don’t Just Set Fire To The Abbey And Dance Round It.”Īlthough it may be near impossible, The Dowager Countess is sometimes able to be persuaded into doing something she was at first reluctant to do. ![]() She tells him that it’s a mistake talking to Cora, to which Robert replies “You can’t expect me to avoid talking to my own wife!” Her amusing gibe takes things to the nth degree, but she sees it as a viable solution. In season 6, episode 3, Robert tells Violet that he had been talking to Cora, and she thinks Violet is wrong. The Dowager Countess not only knows how to be sarcastic and witty, but she also knows how to be dramatic, when things aren’t quite going her way. The Downton Cottage Hospital may be joined up with The Royal Yorkshire Hospital, but Violet and Dr.Clarkson don’t want to see that happen, putting them at loggerheads with Cora and Isobel. Unnecessary Solutions “I Know Several Couples Who Are Perfectly Happy And They Haven’t Spoken In Years.” She hits back with an attempt at showing concern for Isobel’s future, but naturally, can’t resist a hilarious dig at Lord Merton in the same breath. ![]() Much to her dismay, Dr.Clarkson suggests that Violet just prefers Isobel as being middle-class and not wanting to see her position change. In an attempt to persuade Isobel that Lord Merton would be a questionable romantic choice for her in season 5, episode 5, Violet entrusts Dr.Clarkson, to help her convince Isobel. Disapproving Of A Relationship “A Hollow Existence In A Large And Drafty House With A Man Who Bores Her To Death.”Īlthough Violet’s insults are sometimes covered by her sarcastic tone, there are also moments where her words are not minced. Violet wholeheartedly disagrees with a figure of speech, that not only succinctly gets her point across, but also adds some light humor. At a family dinner in season 3, episode 1, whilst being waited on, cousin Matthew states that he had thought about living a simpler life, with reference to the servants who are serving their dinner. Their aristocratic way of living was handed down from generations before them, but they understand that they exist to create jobs and manage the estate for the people of the village. The ‘upstairs’ Downton Abbey family residents, were born into a life of upper-class rules. Sticking To Tradition “An Aristocat With No Servants Is As Much Use To The Country As A Glass Hammer.” Only Violet would have the gall (and wit) to make such a statement. ![]() After she correctly points out that it is, in fact, a reaction to a rue hedge, she follows up with grouping herself together with medical professionals, just to wind Isobel up a little more. Mr.Molesley endured a rash on his hand which Isobel inaccurately diagnosed as being erysipelas, but Violet knew better. Isobel and Mr.Molesley pay a visit to Dr.Clarkson in season 1, episode 4, only to find Violet is already in his office. Any chance the pair can score a subtle dig towards one another is taken, especially by Violet. The snipes exchanged between Violet and Isobel are as much a part of Downton Abbey as the Earl Of Grantham himself. A Visit To The Doctor “…There Comes A Time When Things Are Best Left To The Professionals.” Violet brings a comical moment to nearly every scene she’s in and her one-liners make for some of the funniest quotes of the series. But, her stead-fast manner shouldn’t be confused for a lack of hilarious sarcasm and quick wit. The Dowager Countess of Grantham initially comes across as a steely authoritarian. ![]() The comedy element was mainly conveyed by the talented Maggie Smith, as Violet Crawley. The cast of Downton Abbey provided viewers with storylines of relationship struggles, family issues, difference between classes, and even some light humor, all set in a grand, stately home from the early 1900s. The new movie, Downton Abbey: A New Era, is set to hit the big screen next year, with the return of some very familiar faces. ![]()

Time Out Market first launched during the summer of 2019 with a focus on bringing in buzzy hometown names like Back Bay seafood spot Saltie Girl and the acclaimed Somerville restaurant Tasting Counter. Source, a pizza hot spot in Cambridge, launched at Time Out Market in March and was out by September, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. La Saison wasn’t the only spot that closed up shop at the food hall within a matter of months this year. The market currently has 12 vendors operating in the space, and only a couple - Say Coffee, from the Phinista team, and an outpost of local doughnut chain Union Square Donuts - open before 11 a.m. “People were nice but the location and the crowd were not what we expected considering our working hours as a bakery.” “Our sales number never got close to what is expected as a minimum during the time we were there,” Moridpour said. There were “a couple reasons” contributing to the closure, Moridpour said in an email, but low sales were the main factor. ![]() La Saison first launched at the food hall in May and closed up shop by early September, according to bakery co-owner Sarah Moridpour. I was dreaming in tiny black and white boxes. What I wanted to write was criticism about film and fiction, but I didn’t know who would want to read it. What we’re often asked for instead is stories about our pain or our trauma, and I had no interest in narrating the tragedy of my mixed Blackness. I did not have the confidence to get torn apart in Track Changes and wanted no part of it.Īnd most importantly, I had internalized the message a lot of women and women of color receive when they express interest in writing: Our words are not universal. I’d watched my coworkers bicker in endless email chains, sniping at each other over comma placement and em dashes on the company’s blog. I had just left my first job in the book industry and had seen the depths of bad prose in the slush pile. I had kept a journal on and off, had experimented with writing a summer newsletter to friends, but still, writing terrified me. In 2019, I had very little interest in writing publically, despite being extremely jealous of anyone who described themselves as a writer. Most of them I wouldn’t ever use, but I imagined SLEEPERCELL and BEDROOMPOP, tied together by SHUTEYE as the reveal for a slumber-related puzzle. I started an Excel sheet to store possible answers, sorted by length. If I was reading and stumbled on a peculiar word or piece of trivia, I’d wonder how it could be incorporated into a puzzle. I’d try to think through gaps I’d left in the puzzle at my desk. My rat brain was listless and in search of a quantifiable reward. Rarely are we given a problem with a solution that can be literally spelled out. The puzzle had a beginning and an end, and you either got it or you didn’t. ![]() Even though I was unable to complete them without a couple of hints, I immediately understood the appeal of a crossword. As I started reading clues, I realized I had never heard of common clues like ALEE (the side of the ship sheltered from the wind) or the Eugene O’Neill play ANNA Christie (embarrassing, since at the time I was working at a theater). At first, I even struggled with the Monday puzzles-the easiest in the week. It took me a while to finally solve a puzzle. During a mundane workday, the satisfaction of puzzle solving was irresistible. I’d strip the puzzle section from the office newspaper in the morning and keep it at my desk all day, peeking at it during long phone meetings. ![]() I wasn’t good enough to solve in pen-I’m still barely good enough to solve in pencil-but in the summer of 2019, I started doing the New York Times daily crossword puzzle. 9/1/2023 0 Comments Universal shrek 4d ride![]() Things pick up where the movie left off, following the lovable ogre Shrek and equally green Princess Fiona on their honeymoon. Shrek 4-D acts as a link between the first movie and the sequel, which comes out next year. This marks the first time that an original cast and creative team from an animated movie have produced an attraction such as this, and the project took more than two years to develop. Their approach with the Shrek 4-D attraction was no different: "We set out to tell a good story with great characters." Working with the original minds behind the movie - and the voices of Shrek stars Mike Myers (Shrek), Cameron Diaz (Princess Fiona), Eddie Murphy (Donkey) and John Lithgow (Lord Farquaad) - the show blends cutting-edge 3-D technology and sensory interaction to create a new experience for parkgoers.Īs with other rides and shows at the park, "Universal Studios tries to bring cutting-edge technology to great film stories," says public-relations manager Michael McLane. Shrek 4-D is a change from the usual "based on the movie" attraction. Of course, the real test for this attraction will be living up to the original DreamWorks movie. Well, at least it meets the summer-in-Florida coolness criteria. And aren't the Three Little Pigs and Pinocchio hanging from the ceiling? There are chains hanging from the ceiling and an intimidating-looking array of flails and irons on the wall. It was perfect weather for ogres at Universal Studios: drizzly, overcast, humid.īut reporters have a tendency to wilt in 100 percent humidity, which is why I was so grateful when the Universal rep ushered me into the new Shrek 4-D attraction (which opened to the public Thursday). Well, here is the article if anyone wants to read:īy Rebecca Swain Vadnie | Sentinel Staff Writer I'm still surprised that a lot of people didn't like it, I've already been on it four times and it seemed to me that everyone in the theatre loved it, even after waiting in the rain for 40 min. There was a very positive review of it in today's paper (Orlando Sentinel), it was on the cover of the calendar section. The muppets and Pixar have always done this, and many times more effectively, without feeling the need to resort to the low brow extremely easy humor Shrek uses non stop. I was bored of this attraction halfway through.Īnd I surprised to see that some people here seem to think Shrek had some secret formula that made it appeal to children and adults effectively. Every segment felt like a glued on cheap 3d trick. ![]() In what way is the giftshop fun?!Īnd I wouldn't say any of the effects were stunning, since basically all of them were already used more effectively in Honey I shrunk the Audience (sneezing water effect, rat tails on the legs, moving seats, or in this case moving theater.) And the jokes were all just rehashes of things already used in the movie. Maybe the fantasyland looking shields and banners did it for you. Fun from the second you step in line? You must be easily amused, because I don't think watching clips from the movie separated by screens telling you that you can purchase the movie in the giftshop is my idea of fun. 9/1/2023 0 Comments Moon trine mercury composite![]() The loss can bring them closer together or split them apart. There are a lot of lessons learned in the union if they manage to stick together through some of the possible toxicity. They are obsessed with relating and connecting deeply but this can cause further wounding if they’re not careful. ![]() But this just ends up in nasty argument’s. They each want the other person to conform to their ideas and way of being. This can come out in the forms of manipulation and power struggles. There is still a compelling urge to relate despite this. Here however there is a lot of disagreement and disconnect at time’s due to the moral differences between both people. It is very similar to the conjunction in the powerful feeling’s aroused. The attraction can be instant or very noticeable on a profound level. This start’s off as a highly fated feeling, mysterious connection. The update also gives users support for Secure Wi-Fi (802.1X), and somewhat limited VPN support. According to CRN VMware is also working on a version of VMware View for Chrome OS but has no timeline for its release. Given Citrix Receiver’s ubiquity, we’re actually a bit surprised that it didn’t launch with the Chromebooks, but this is a good addition for any corporate deployment. To address those pesky legacy desktop apps, Chrome OS now has a technology preview of Citrix Receiver, which lets Chromebook users access applications and their Windows virtual desktops. ![]() In the post, Sheth (Google’s group product manager of Chrome for Business) grudgingly admits that there’s still a need for desktop applications. On Wednesday, August 10, Google’s Rajen Sheth, blogged about a couple of new features for Chromebooks including VPN support, secure Wi-Fi and a tech preview of Citrix Receiver for Chrome OS. We have laptops and 2 monitors via USB-C so it technically will work across 3 monitors (laptop + 2 external monitors).Google’s Chrome OS and Chromebooks have been dinged for lacking some features needed for business but the company is starting to get around to addressing those concerns. An HP Chromebook 11 G4 and an HP Chromebook 14 G4 are the currently impacted ones. We are seeing this issue only on the Chromebook Citrix Receiver App from the Chrome Web Store and not on the Windows Chrome Citrix Receiver Extension. This feature is not supported on tablets, phones, and Samsung DeX. Just note that the Chrome Apps end of life in June 2022.unless Google changes their mind. After that I'm not sure what Citrix is planning. Here is what I see when Chrome calls the Citrix Workspace App from the Google Play Store: Citrix and Google have a relationship, so maybe it will be a progressive app or something else. I don't see any option to go across both screens. If you are looking for a version of Citrix Workspace app with latest bug fixes and newer features, we recommend: use the latest version of Citrix Workspace app use the latest Google ChromeOS version on the stable channel. Some of the applications from the Chrome Web Store are new, users can expect some issues and lack of functionality. On Windows, I know to make sure the app is in window-mode, and spanning both screens, then trigger full screen at that point but on the Chromebook it doesn't want to span both screens and it just "snaps" to either screen.
